The names of LvB sound-absorbing panels
What were we thinking when naming our sound-absorbing panels?
When we chose the names for the LvB panel models, we drew inspiration from music (that was obvious, wasn’t it?). But we didn’t just pick names at random — we tried to associate geometric shapes and their functions with the characteristics of the most harmonious sounds.
Sometimes it was easy, other times less so, but even naming our panels became a way for us to understand them deeply.
LvB, a story of music
The Names of LvB
Variazione: A flattened hexagon, altered from its regular shape — just like a musical piece that evolves through variations on an original theme.
Melodia: A complete and flowing musical phrase, something soft and continuous — just like the circular or elliptical forms that define this LvB panel.
Ottava: With its eight regular sides, it recalls the interval between notes of different frequencies: from C to C, from A to A.
Opera: Music and voice combined to create all forms of melodrama — our Opera panel, too, has infinite possibilities in any space.
Operetta: The smaller, desk-sized version — it also offers endless possibilities. Just as in an operetta, where singing and dialogue alternate, this panel divides spaces and workstations with balance.
Preludio: Suspended from the ceiling and perpendicular to the floor, it visually divides spaces — a “before and after” — much like a prelude, a short piece played freely and spontaneously.
Ouverture: The opening of an opera — a perfect name for a slatted panel system that can open and close freely, wherever you wish, thanks to its practical wheels.
